Wood Vs. Iron Vs. Vinyl Fencing

Wood Vs. Iron Vs. Vinyl Fencing

To help you decide whether to get wood, iron, or vinyl fencing, we’re going to explain what each type can do for you.

If you’re currently debating on a fence for your home, there are three types most people use: iron, wood, and vinyl fencing. All of these fencing options have their advantages and disadvantages, and the needs of your house will ultimately determine the fence you choose. To help you decide whether to get wood, iron, or vinyl fencing, we’re going to explain what each type can do for you.

Wood Fencing

Wood fences are a timeless classic that have been around for years. They are great for improving the look of your house, coming in many different designs. Wooden fencing also comes at a lower price when compared to other fences on the market.

The downside to wooden fencing is that it isn’t as durable. You will have a lot of maintenance on your hands, applying and reapplying paint, as well as monitoring your fence for rot and dealing with pests like termites. These fences also don’t last as long, meaning you’ll need to replace your fences more often. If you need a cheap, yet stunning fencing solution, and you’re willing to put in the effort maintaining it, wooden fencing is a great option.

Iron Fencing

Iron fences will last you a long time and are highly customizable.  They offer the most curb appeal, while also supplying you with more durability than its competitors. You can use iron fencing to keep unwanted guests away from your property as well, making it perfect for houses that want a little more protection. You also won’t have any maintenance requirements other than addressing rusty spots.

Unfortunately, iron fencing does have a higher upfront cost. This is because iron is one of the most expensive resources for creating fences. But if you’re willing to pay the extra money now, you’ll be sure to get your money’s worth in the long run with iron fencing.

Vinyl Fencing

Lastly, we have vinyl fencing. This is the most economically friendly option available. They are cheaper to install than other fences. However, unlike wood fences, you get extra durability. You also don’t have to spend much time maintaining your fence.

The trade-offs for vinyl fencing mostly fall in the aesthetic department. There are limited designs available, meaning you can’t get too creative with your fence. This means that vinyl fencing is often not the best option if the goal is to boost your curb appeal. However, if you want a cheap, yet functional, fence for your home, vinyl fencing is perfect.
